UPDATE: Point Clear home burglary suspect in custody identified

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) – UPDATE: Fairhope police have a person in custody related to an investigation into a home burglary in the Point Clear area.

Jose Andres Rosado-Ortiz, 39, of Mobile was identified after the Fairhope Police Department shared home surveillance footage on social media. 

Police say investigators notified the Spanish Fort Police Department they believe the suspect was in Spanish Fort Thursday morning. 

FPD says Rosado-Ortiz was found in a neighborhood going door to door with landscape equipment. Police report he had been going door to door under the guise of performing landscape work.  If a homeowner answered the door, the suspect would claim to be at the wrong address and move on.  If no one was home, he would attempt entry.  

Rosado-Ortiz has been charged with 2 counts of Burglary 3rd by the Fairhope Police Department for two Point Clear residential burglaries. The investigation into additional burglaries is on-going and additional charges are expected to follow.


Fairhope Police are working a residential burglary in the Point Clear area. 

The burglary happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday on Polo Ridge Boulevard.

Police have released home surveillance video of a man who may have information about the burglary.
