Two Foley Police corrections officers injured in fight with inmate

FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — Two Foley Police corrections officers were injured after an inmate attacked them in the city jail Monday. 

Foley Police say Joshua Sanks, 27, was being held on misdemeanor charges, including public intoxication, harassment, and criminal mischief 3rd. He was in lockdown because of fighting with other inmates. 

According to police, Sanks attacked and tased a male officer with his own taser. A second officer went in to help but was also attacked.

Foley Police says more police and corrections officers were called in and helped gain control of Sanks.

The male officer has been hospitalized at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. 

Sanks was transferred to Baldwin County Jail and held with no bond. He has been charged with two counts of assault 2nd degree and one count of disarming a law enforcement officer/correction officer.
