“The worse day,” Family, friends say goodbye to Josie Jones

Baldwin County

FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) —  “I guess you could say it’s probably the worse day.” Saying goodbye is never easy.

“This is the hardest time I’ve ever had,” says Alize Marshall, “ever thought about having.”

For those who knew and loved Josie Jones, this was a day that couldn’t be missed.  “Josie’s loving and her high spirit will always live on,” said her sister Raven Elliott.

It’s been a week. The young mother-to-be killed in a head-on collision. She was six weeks away from giving birth to a baby girl. Marshal is the baby’s father and throughout the service, he was clinging to the blanket that was supposed to welcome their child into the world.  “It says Amorah Kelani and Josie Michele. It’s something that I cherish but oh, it’s difficult.”

Police believe Debra Estep was drunk when she turned the wrong way on the Beach Express.  The investigation into the crash seemingly at a standstill while waiting on blood test results from a Florida hospital.

“There’s so much anger,” says Marshall.  “It’s more anger than you can bear.”

But on this day, along with the anger come tears, hugs and memories for someone that by all accounts was special, with big plans for her life and her little girl. Both taken too soon.  “She will always be with us and I can always feel her you know? I’ll always feel her next to me,” says Elliott.
