FAIRHOPE, Ala (WKRG) — We are expecting another hot weekend here along the Gulf Coast, but you need to take caution if you plan on swimming at certain spots on the Eastern Shore. ADEM says the Fairhope Public Beach and Volanta Avenue have unsafe bacteria levels for swimming.

On Thursday August 2, ADEM re-tested Fairhope Public Beach and Volanta Avenue in Fairhope. Bacteria results from Friday, August 3rd indicate high levels above the EPA threshold for swimming. Please use caution if swimming and fishing around these sites and remember that heavy rain can affect water quality.
On Thursday August 2, Mobile Baykeeper tested three additional sites as part of our Swim Where It’s Monitored (SWIM) program. The following two sites contained bacteria levels above the EPA threshold for safe swimming:
Devil’s Hole and Point Clear.
