Spanish Fort homicide victim identified

Baldwin County

SPANISH FORT, Ala (WKRG) Around 9:30 Monday night, the body of Skyler Williams was found along Majors Creek in Stockton. “Someone newly back from the Texas area was out last night in a four-wheel drive vehicle riding dirt roads and happened upon the body,” according to Col. Anthony Lowery with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

That discovery would begin an investigation that led back to a home in Spanish Fort in the 11000 block of Highway 31 and evidence of a gunfight.  “We believe our victim and another person were both, the other person wasn’t actually shot but they were shot at, both in Spanish Fort area.  The other victim, she was able to get away. Mr. Williams succumbed to his injuries and ended up under the bridge at Majors Creek.”

One person was taken into custody early in the investigation but so far, no charges.  Investigators have recovered a handgun and believe the death of Williams is drug-related.  “At this point, that’s what it looks like. It doesn’t look like it is a domestic issue or anything and obviously, we don’t think it is random either,” says Lowery.

Earlier we had reported that two people had been detained in this case.   One person has been cleared in this case but continues to be held on outstanding charges from another agency.  We should know the name of the suspect in this case and what charges he faces later tonight.
