SPANISH FORT, Ala. (WKRG) — “The Fort” isn’t quite ready to open just yet, but on Wednesday, developers got some help with finishing touches by about 30 students from Spanish Fort High School.

They designed and painted benches that will go outside at The Fort Container Park.

“It’s really cool because we’re spreading art to the community with the new renovations,” said Elizabeth Grosscup. “With The Fort being built, it’s cool to take part of that and make our mark on the community.”

The Fort consists of 10 repurposed cargo containers that have been transformed into restaurants or retail shops.

The container park was set to open in mid-January but was delayed.  A new opening date hasn’t been announced, but developers say it will be very soon.
