SILVERHILL, Ala. (WKRG) — Brooklyn Kyzar is putting Baldwin County on the kid culinary map.
The 12-year-old will be competing in the upcoming season of The Food Network’s “Kids Baking Championship.”
“It was a surreal moment because I never imagined, never dreamed that that would happen and it did, and it’s just so amazing,” Kyzar told News 5.
The 12-year-old was chosen as one of 12 young bakers out of thousands of applicants across the U.S. and Canada.
Kyzar’s dream is to open her own bakery. She’s already well on her way – running Whipped Up from her Silverhill home.
The winner walks away with a $25,000 prize.
While Kyzar can’t give us any spoilers, she would tell us she’s leaving this experience with a new batch of friends.
“Many friends, many good friends that I’m still hanging out with today. And we made good bonding friendships,” she said.
The show premiers on Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. The season is 10 episodes long.
