Rough surf continues in Baldwin County ahead of Gordon

Baldwin County

From Orange Beach to Fort Morgan, coastal areas of Baldwin County are the most threatened by this storm.  At the Cotton Bayou Beach access, there is still a single red flag flying.  Monday was the last vacation day for the Labor Day weekend in Gulf Shores.  While the clouds thickened and the surf continued to be rough, some people were still trying to cram in one more beach day before heading home.

About 22 miles north Monday, a handful of Baldwin County officials labored on Labor Day.  They met for a brief conference call to discuss storm preparation.  Today officials will meet again at EMA in Robertsdale at 10:30 this morning for another briefing.  Gordon offers some strange parallels to the last named storm to hit our region.  Alberto was the first named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season and hit at the tail end of the Memorial Day weekend.
