ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) — Spring Break for students in Baldwin County is the perfect time to be putting the finishing touches on the new portable classrooms that will make up the middle and high school classrooms in the Fall in Orange Beach.
In the last several weeks, a modular classroom village has become part of the elementary school campus and beyond. “What we will have in this next year of 2019-20 school year, you’ll have seventh and eighth grade on campus and ninth and tenth on city property here by the tennis courts.”
City crews are working on parking lots and driveways as construction crews put the final touches on decks and ramps leading to high school classrooms, according to city spokesman Ken Grimes. “Now, starting at the end of this month when they start hiring teachers, they have places to show up and start setting up classrooms in anticipation for August.”
The portable classroom village is anticipated to be used for just one school year. The new Middle/High School is scheduled to be finished in time for the 2020-21 school year.
They’ll only have one year in those portable classrooms and this high school will be ready by the fall of 2020.
