FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — The 500 plus acre OWA Resort and Amusement Park in Foley was already pretty impressive but more attractions are coming, you just can’t see it.

Inside buildings in the downtown district, construction is underway on 400 seat indoor theater for “Legends in Concert”.  It will be the permanent home of tribute acts for your favorite stars and entertainers.

Next door, the much anticipated Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen and Gift Shop that is also being built inside a massive building.

The Park’s newest thrill ride, Mystic Mansion, will be an indoor, air-conditioned, 3-D dark ride visitors will use “ghost blasters” to rack up points as they make their way through the “Mansion”.

“There’s a lot of construction going on,” says OWA spokesperson Kristen Hellmich.  “We’re adding Paula Deen this summer.  We’re opening Legends in Concert this summer.  We have a lot of new additions coming onboard restaurants, entertainment but also stores, some retail shops.”

Opened just a year and a half ago, OWA is becoming what it always wanted to be, a destination.  “That was our goal from day one,” says general manager Steve Hunnicutt, “and that will be our goal till we get there. It’s been baby steps along the way. Now, we’re taking some giant steps.”

Also happening this summer, an E-Sports indoor gaming center and the dance party Glowa returns Memorial Day weekend.

This is part of the parks phase two of construction.  Phase three will include an RV Park and plans are also underway to develop a water park at OWA.
