ONLY ON NEWS 5: Training with Bay Minette’s new K-9

Baldwin County

ATMORE, Ala. (WKRG) – The Bay Minette Police Department welcomes a new addition to the team. A new K-9 named Jax should be hitting the streets in the coming weeks.

“These dogs have to be accurate in what they do,” said Chief Al Tolbert.

Officers spent Wednesday morning at A.C. Moore Elementary School in Atmore training the new dog as certification continues.

Jax will be the second K-9 to join the force since last year. Chief Tolbert tells News 5 the units are important assets for the department and for the city.

“Our current K-9 has been in service since April of last year and he is credited for numerous drug finds,” said Tolbert.

News 5’s Blake Brown will have video of the training later today online.
