It’s the first day of school for students and teachers in Baldwin County

Baldwin County

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — We’re halfway through August and Baldwin County students went back to class Wednesday morning  It was expected to be a busy day at one of the fastest growing school districts in the state.

Baldwin County is growing so much the county will see its first independent school district next year. Gulf Shores will break away and form its own school system.  We’re live at Robertsdale Elementary School this morning.  No matter where you’re traveling in Baldwin County, remember to watch your speed.  Speeding in school zones is no joke.  Last week Mobile Police highlighted making 142 traffic citations in school zones on the first day of classes in Mobile County.  That’s on top of the red light camera program already in place on most county school buses.

This year Baldwin County middle and high school students will have a relaxed dress code.  Last year the board of education approved the new policy that goes into effect this morning.  Some of the highlights include no shirts with pictures that could be offensive, no sleeveless garments and skirts should be mid-thigh or fingertip length.
