FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — Foley Fire Department was called last week to free a kid from his bicycle after his parents realized the child’s foot was stuck. Once on scene, firefighters worked to release his foot, which was wedged between the pedal and a bar. Ultimately, firefighters had to cut the bike in order to free 4-year-old Jahrell Strother.
Strother’s dad says despite the chaotic scene, he was glad to see the men from Foley Fire Department respond so quickly.
“They pulled out the big guns and they got him out. It was pretty impressive,” said Milton Strother, Jr.
It was a frightening experience for the kid, but his parents tell us the firefighters kept him calm throughout the ordeal. The firefighters who responded to the call decided to purchase and surprise him with a new bicycle over the weekend for being so brave.
“They performed their job while they were here by getting my son out safely and I was really proud to live in a community where men and women cared that much about the people in the community to make sure my son was not only safe but was happy after the situation happened,” said Strother.
