LOXLEY, Ala. (WKRG)– Finally, for the first time outside of Texas, Buc-ee’s is now open in Baldwin County.
“I’m from Texas originally so it feels like home,” says one of the hundreds to visit the store before noon.
The opening was an event Buc-ee’s founder Arch “Beaver” Aplin wasn’t going to miss. “Amazing, just an incredible feeling. I am so excited.”
Known for the food and everything else Buc-ee’s, this first store may not be just the beginning in Alabama, according to Aplin. “So we have a site just outside of Birmingham in a little town called Leeds, Alabama and we’ve been looking yes, in the Auburn area so nothing confirmed just out looking. I wanted to get this open before I did anything else but the first day tells me we need more sites in Alabama.”
Whether you have been to Buc-ee’s before or this is the first time, it’s one of those places that doesn’t disappoint. “There are a lot of places that sell food and fuel and restrooms but I wanted to put it all together and make it an experience,” says Aplin, “Kind of a “Wow” moment.” And that it is.
Buc-ee’s is located at exit 49 on I-10 and the Baldwin Beach Express in Loxley, AL.
