Fire destroys Loxley home single mother shares with her three boys

LOXLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — A fire has destroyed a mobile home on Fox Branch Road near County Road 65.

April Davenport, a single mother, lives there with her three boys.

“It’s like your whole life is just gone,” she said. “I mean, it’s just hard.”

The family says six four-week old puppies died in the fire.

That was something particularly difficult for April’s younges son Tanner.

“The first thing I did was worry about my puppies,” he said.

The family found out through a phone call that their house was up in flames.

“At first when you just hear it, it doesn’t really register,” said April. Young Tanner finished his mom’s thought.

“But then when you see it, you know it’s real,” he said.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up for the family.

Multiple units including Loxley, Stapleton and Silverhill Fire all responded to the scene.

Crews had to drive about a half mile down the road to fill trucks with water then return to the scene.
