Driver sentenced for DUI crash that killed man on Mother’s Day 2017

Baldwin County

BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WKRG) — A driver accused of killing a man in a DUI crash last year was sentenced to 20 years on a manslaughter charge on Monday.

Prosecutors said David Justin Todd had a blood alcohol level of three times the legal limit when he crashed into Aubrey Coggin of Foley on Mother’s Day 2017.

Coggin had stopped on the Intracoastal Waterway bridge in Gulf Shores to help people involved in an earlier accident.

Todd left the scene but was later captured at a gas station several miles away.
