Charges upgraded to manslaughter for brothers in Summerdale homicide

Baldwin County

UPDATE: Two brothers arrested in connection with a Summerdale homicide are now charged with manslaughter. The charges were upgraded Wednesday morning. Preliminary autopsy results on the victim show blunt force trauma as the cause of death. Investigators say the object used in the attack that killed the victim has been recovered. The brothers are expected to make their first court appearance this afternoon for a bond hearing.

Aaron and Brady Willis are expected to make their first court appearance Wednesday.  They have been charged with assault and domestic violence assault after the death of their mother’s fiance Walter David Powers.

Authorities called this a severe case of domestic violence, investigators say there was bad blood between the Willis brothers and Powers.  That led to a fight that also injured the mother of the two suspects when she tried to intervene.  She is said to be cooperating in the investigation but there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Authorities say it will just take time to put all the pieces together.

The Willis brothers remain in the Baldwin County jail.  They are expected to make their first court appearance Wednesday for a bond hearing.
