ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) – The 2019 Orange Beach Billfish Classic kicked off Thursday morning as boats made their way into the Gulf of Mexico hoping to reel in the biggest catch.

The tournament is held at The Wharf each year, with hundreds of anglers joining in on the action.

Boats went through Perdido Pass around noon Thursday. Weigh-in for the tournament begins Friday at The Wharf, but most fishermen will wait until Saturday evening to bring in their catch.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday with a tournament awards breakfast at 9 a.m.
