Biker Dad: Christmas in April, “Santas on Bikes” start giving early

Baldwin County

FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — Christmas came early in Foley Tuesday night. The SOBs, that’s “Santas on Bikes,” not the other kind of SOB you may be thinking of. For 12 years the group of biker has been making sure local kids get toys on Christmas. This year’s ride is coming up on December 21st. Check out the event page on Facebook for more information.

Leading up to the ride, the SOBs have a montly bike night at Our Place in Foley. They ride, gather and have fun. But they also have raffle prizes to raise money for the ride and for more toys. Instead of collecting toys, the SOBs collect money and buy the specific toys on kids’ Christmas lists. Bikers then mount up and spread out to deliver the toys to kids on bikes. It’s a fun, loud way to show the kids that folks care about them.

Here’s more information about the December ride from their Facebook page, “Our group will gather at “Our Place Sports Bar & Lounge” at 10:00 am for registration (on December 21st). From there we will deliver the gifts to the families. The groups will set off in 15 minute intervals starting at 11:15. There will be several groups of around 10 to 15 riders heading to different homes. Organizers will coordinate the groups and a Road Captain will be assigned to each group. After party will be held back at “Our Place”
