Whitney Leibold joined WKRG News 5 as a multimedia journalist covering Baldwin County in June 2022. Being from the small town of Springboro, Ohio, Whitney is excited to cover stories along Alabama’s beautiful Gulf Coast!
Since middle school, Whitney knew she needed to go into a career that would allow her to talk, because she constantly was told to quiet down by her teachers growing up, so she found that becoming a journalist was what she wanted and needed to do.
Whitney graduated from The University of Alabama in May 2022, (Roll tide!) where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in News Media with a concentration in Sports Broadcasting. At her time at Alabama, Whitney worked as a sports and news reporter at WVUA 23 News and Sports, the television station located in Bryant Denny Stadium, where she learned everything she needed to learn from TV legend, Mike Royer. Whitney was also a team member of the University of Alabama Women’s Lacrosse Team 2018-2022.
When Whitney is not telling stories, you can find her relaxing in Orange Beach, watching Alabama football, cheering on the Tennessee Titans or facetiming with her family in Ohio, as well as spending time with her boyfriend!
