Thomas Boni is WKRG News 5’s Digital Content Manager, leading the station’s website and social media efforts.
This South Alabama native knows news — in 2005, he graduated from Spring Hill College and immediately began a print journalism career.
He started as a reporter for The Daphne Bulletin before receiving several promotions, ultimately becoming editor-in-chief and managing that publication along with the Spanish Fort Sun. The experience allowed him to hone his writing, graphic design, and video editing skills.
In 2012, he moved to Crestview, Florida, where he served as editor-in-chief, managing the Crestview News Bulletin and Santa Rosa Press-Gazette. There, he emerged as a digital news leader, directing teams that consistently produced award-winning short- and long-form content, significantly increasing each website’s page views, and building a Facebook page that consistently ranked within the top 10 of the company’s 400 publications.
During his print/digital career, Thomas earned more than 30 national, state and regional journalism awards, including many Best of GateHouse Awards, along with recognition from the Alabama Press Association and Florida Press Association.
In 2018, he switched gears to direct digital content at Today’s Homeowner Media, which produced the highest-rated, nationally syndicated TV show, “Today’s Homeowner.”
In September 2023, he joined WKRG News 5.
Thomas has a relentless passion for excellence in factual, ethical, written and visual journalism.
Ultimately, the goal is to bring the communities he covers closer together.
He appears on the 2023 Marquis Who’s Who list.
