Summer Poole is a digital content producer for WKRG News 5. Summer started at WKRG as an intern in August 2021 and moved into a full-time job position in December 2021.
As a native Mobillian, Summer grew up watching WKRG News 5 and knew from a young age that she wanted to work in the industry. She attended Mary G. Montgomery High School in Semmes, Ala. and graduated in May 2018.
In fall 2018, Summer started her collegiate career at Spring Hill College in Mobile. During her time at Spring Hill, she was involved in many different organizations, including being on the cheerleading team, being a freshman orientation leader and being a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.
Summer was a member of the Badger TV team at SHC, where she held positions as the weather reporter and the news anchor. Summer was also the newspaper editor for The SpringHillian, which is the oldest collegiate newspaper in Alabama. She graduated in May 2022 with a degree in Communication Arts and an emphasis in broadcast journalism.
When Summer isn’t working, you can find her playing with her pups or out on long walks. Summer is an advocate for eating disorder awareness and mental health awareness, and she has an Instagram account that she uses as a platform to promote these issues.
