Dana Winter is WKRG News 5’s weekend evening anchor and a multi-media journalist. She joined the WKRG News 5 team in 2018.
Since starting at WKRG News 5, Dana has covered major storms like Hurricane Michael, Hurricane Laura, and Hurricane Sally. Dana’s career began in West Texas as a weekend anchor for KLST News in San Angelo in 2014. While there she discovered her love for Tex-Mex, and covered stories like flying in the Goodyear Blimp, the Rattlesnake Round-up, and safety at the U.S. border.
After nearly two years in Texas, she decided to try something new. Dana moved to Northwest Arkansas where she was a morning reporter for KNWA and Fox 24 News in Fayetteville. She also met her fiancé, Eric, while living in the Natural State! Dana covered breaking news stories, and fun community events, bringing a lot of energy to the morning show! She worked in Arkansas from 2016 until 2018.
While she’s lived across the United States, Dana calls Central Florida home. She was raised in Winter Haven. Dana has always had a strong love for musical theatre which led her to Harrison School for the Visual and Performing Arts. Dana then went on to attend the University of Florida where she studied broadcast journalism. During her time there, she interned at Fox 35 where she covered the NALEO convention, FAMU hazing scandal, and George Zimmerman case. Dana also interned at Real Radio 104.1 on the Monsters in the Morning show where she helped launch the Monsters in the Morning Interns Podcast.
In her spare time, Dana likes playing video games, watching Bravo, and exploring the area! Dana doesn’t have too much spare time though because she is wedding planning!
