Amanda DeVoe joined WKRG News 5 This Morning in February 2020 as the traffic reporter.
Amanda comes to the Gulf Coast after six years of working in the Midwest. She started her career in Rockford, Illinois as a multimedia journalist and anchor where she wrote, shot, produced and edited her own stories. After two years, she joined the CBS affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a multimedia journalist. During her time there, she covered a variety of stories, ranging from the unrest in Milwaukee following an officer-involved shooting, to housing and crime issues. Amanda also spent time freelancing in Chicago as a writer, reporter and traffic producer.
Amanda’s love for journalism started in high school, when a local news reporter visited her English class. She received her bachelor’s degree in communication studies with a minor in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and her master’s degree in journalism from DePaul University. She is also a proud alumna of Fayetteville State University.
Amanda is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Having grown up in Bowie, Maryland and the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina, Amanda is excited to be back in the South. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys reading, volunteering and trying new restaurants.
