(CBS) A one-week old puppy has survived after accidentally being flushed down a
toilet in London, UK, and being trapped in a drain for four hours.

Four-year-old Daniel Blair, of Northolt in west London, was attempting to wash
the dog on Sunday after it had become muddy during a walk in the garden.

But the animal was swept away and got trapped in a waste pipe.

Daniel's mother, Alison Blair, called specialist drain firm Dyno-Rod who
managed to locate the dog, which was by then 20 yards (18 metres) away from
the house, using specialist camera equipment.

Neighbours were asked not to flush their toilets lest the unfortunate creature
be washed into the main sewer, from where it would be impossible to rescue it.

Plumber Will Craig, after discussions with the fire brigade and animal welfare
group the RSPCA (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) then
managed to use drain rods to nudge the puppy towards a manhole cover from
which it was plucked to safety.

The puppy has now been named 'Dyno' in honour of his rescuers.

Daniel Blair has meanwhile apologised, and promised not to do it again.

doug. If this article had been written in the UK the toilette would have been called a “loo”. Was probably rewritten by one of david lettermens joke writers.

dougstech ............. Can yiu tell this did not happen IN America…. this child would have been arrained MONDAY MORNING, awaiting charges for Cruelty to Animals….

Krickett-you are right-one week old puppies don’t “walk”-they scoot. Was he washing the dog in the toilet? That is gross.Where was the mother when he was “walking the dog in the muddy garden” and while he was “bathing it?” Sounds like the SPCA needs to take away all their dogs-they apparently cannot be responsible owners to let a 4 year old be around newborn puppies unattended.

Can you tell this article was not written in america?

You are right that puppy was very lucky and I am glad to see that it is o.k. It says that the puppy got flushed down a toilet? Then is said the boy was just trying to give the puppy a walk? Since when do we bath in a toilet? I mean if the dog was only a week old a damp wash cloth would have done the trick. I hope by the age of four my daughter does not think it is o.k. to bath in a toilet. Also why would the toilet have to be flushed to wash the dog? I don’t know. Is it just me or does this story not make much sense?

That is one lucky dog.  Of course puppies can walk.  At least there is a happy ending for this puppy.

Ok…is it me….I didn’t know a one week old puppy could walk?

Much less out in a GARDEN??????

PALEEEZE his little mean *ss just flushed him down the drain…OMG HAHAHAHA
This is horrible…but kind of comical all at the same time…I’m glad the little fella is alright. I would have been sad if he would have been hurt or died.
