Sometimes when Hurricanes come people have to go and evacuate out of the way. We give them names so that it's easier to keep up with them. Did you ever notice that every other name is the name of a man and every other name is the name of a woman? The list of hurricane names is also alphabetical. There is a whole lot we don’t know about hurricanes but some people think they know everything and if they are wrong that could be big trouble.

Hurricanes might bother people they are all a natural part of the Earth trying to balance everything. They have a job of moving moisture and heat around the globe. We have to remember to be prepared and to keep up with the forecast from a meteorologist.

Weather is meteorology and it’s also called atmospheric science. While you might see a meteorologist on TV giving the weather forecast, most meteorologists are not on TV. Some work for the national weather service, or the coast guard, or the air force, while others are professors in colleges. Other meteorologists help to make computer models that show how weather works. Others work at airports and others work for oil companies, big farms, and even for sports teams. A meteorologist has a job studying the one thing that affects everybody.

The best thing about weather is there’s always something new to see in the sky and enjoy. Enjoy the weather. Keep your eyes to the sky, and make sure to stay safe when bad weather might happen.
