The Alabama Department of Public Health reports four new heat-related deaths. Twelve Alabamians have died from heat-related illnesses this month alone. In addition to the death, ADPH is reporting 352 Alabamians have been treated in hospital emergency rooms for heat-related illnesses. An additional 78 people were admitted to Alabama hospitals for heat related illnesses.

Dr. Donald Williamson, state health officer, says during extreme heat, the public should be on watch for heat-related illnesses and take steps to keep cool. “Take frequent breaks in an air-conditioned area during the hottest period of the day. Drink more fluids, but avoid beverages containing alcohol or caffeine”, says Williamson.

Heat-related deaths have been reported in Autauga, Chilton, Coffee, Elmore, Henry, Montgomery and Morgan counties.

ADPH Heat Tips :

* People age 65 and older should take special care because they are particularly susceptible to heat-related illness and complications
* People taking certain drugs, tranquilizers and diuretics have an increased risk of heat-related illness
* Do not over-exert yourself during the heat of the day
* Take cool showers or baths
* Reduce or eliminate strenuous activities
* Never leave humans or pets in parked vehicles

Mobilegrl, I am not meaning to make it “easy” by no means, this was started a week ago when the A/C went out (partial) in Mobile Metro and everybody was screaming about how they “HAD” to have A/C fixed ASAP!!! I made this as a follow-up to the other newscast! I was saying, they may as well get use to the heat because State Prisonis no walk in the park!!!

If they can’t do the time, DON’T Do The Crime, simple as that!!!!! No sympathy here. It’s choice!!!! Why should they lay up in A/C watching T.V. while my husband, who is a Vietmen Veteran gets out in this heat and works, while they lay up. Until they make prisoners not want to come back to hell, prisons will stay full and the taxpayer will build more prisons. Doesn’t make a bit of sense. Why make it easy???

The people in our state prison`s, Staton Correctional Facility is just an example, they live with over 300 inmates per dorm, not only do they not have A/C, the guards actually lock the ice machines and have only certain times per day and night that ice call is made! So NO not all inmates have it so easy!!!

OUR GOVERNER SHOULD TELL ALL EMPLOYERS TO KEPT A CHECK ON ALL EMPLOYEES DURING THIS TIME OF EXTREME HEAT. IT IS INHUMANE TO SEND WORKING PEOPLE OUT INTO THIS HEAT,  WHILE CRIMINALS LAY UP AT THE JAILS IN AIRCONDITIONING AND WATCH T.V. REMEMBER THAT THE WORKING MAN/WOMAN PAYS TAXES SO THAT THE INMATES CAN BE COOL.
  WHAT A JOKE !!!!!!!!!!

PEOPLE TAKE A STAND !!!!!
