The holiday will truly be a day of thanks for some people living in Santa Rosa County. Severe weather caused scattered damage around the city of Milton. There are reports two unconfirmed tornadoes touched down around 1115pm Wednesday.The American Red Cross was called in to help a family find shelter after their home was damaged during the storm. Emergency officials say there was minor building damage to several businesses along Stewart Street in Milton. Several mobile homes were also damaged along Country View Lane and Pat Brown Road. So far, no injuries have been reported.
A team from the National Weather Service will survey the damage to determine if it was caused by a tornado.
According to Santa Rosa County Emergency Officials, preliminary damage assessments show the following structures were affected:
· Parkmore Plaza Laundry Mat- windows blown out
· Allstate Insurance in Milton- roof collapsed and windows blown out
· J & D Cleaners- air conditioner and compressor ripped out
· Hardees in Milton- roof damage
· On Board Skate Shop- roof damage
· Tires Inc.- vehicle in parking lot with windows blown out
· Burger King in Milton- front door damaged
· McKenzie Motors- awning damage
· Lifeguard Post 8 - wall buckled and windows blown out
· Country View Lane- trailer turned on its side and another trailer with window and roof damage
· Pat Brown Road- damage to mobile home windows and doors, a brick wall at a residence collapsed and door blown open, and propane tank damage
