The National Weather Service confirmed Saturday that an EF-2 tornado is what caused extensive damage to the downtown Atlanta area last night.
The tornado carved a six-mile long path as thousands gathered for
basketball games and various conventions.
Among the damaged buildings are the Georgia Dome, Phillips Arena, CNN Center,
hotels, dozens of homes and apartments.
But as cleanup from the massive storm is ongoing, the city is bracing for more
severe weather.
The National Weather Service has issued more tornado watches and warnings for
Saturday.
Despite the heavy damage, there were no fatalities reported. At least 30
people were taken to hospitals with injuries.
