Santa Rosa County continues to assess overnight storm damage. Two unconfirmed tornadoes caused scattered damage throughout Milton. News 5 Meteorologist John Nodar spokes with the National Weather Service today. John says it will be Friday before the NWS sends an assessment team to determine if the damage was caused by a tornado or straight line winds. While trained spotters reported funnel clouds last night, rotation was never indicated on local radar.

Public Information Officer Joy Tsubooka has released her third update of damage assessments.

Tornado Update #3

Santa Rosa County Emergency Management has completed the first damage report on the possible tornado last night. At this time, value estimates of the damage are not available. An updated release will be sent when the cost estimates are determined. The Mobile Office of the National Weather Service will send a representative to the affected areas tomorrow to survey the damage, gather witness information, determine if the event was caused by high winds or a tornado, and if confirmed to be a tornado, estimate the strength.

The details of the possible tornado as reported by emergency management are:

First reported at 23:17 on the evening of November 21, impacting primarily downtown Milton.
Damage indicates this was an EF1 tornado. For more information on the Fujita Scale.
