People who live in areas where they've seen roads flooded are casting a wary eye on the weather forecasts.Even though water over roads has been receding in west Mobile and southeast Mississippi, Tanner Williams Road in Mississippi was still closed Monday afternoon because of high water.
Over the weekend, that high water prevented firefighters in Hurley, Mississippi from responding to emergencies in one part of their area.
Firefighters from the Tanner Williams Volunteer Fire Department in west Mobile had to cover that area in Mississippi.
Tanner Williams Chief Rusty Holloway said, "Both their access roads (Tanner Williams Road and Airport Boulevard) covering their jurisdictions were blocked, so they notified us and we said, 'Yeah, we'll take care of it.' "
Airport Boulevard re-opened Monday.
Some people who tried to drive though the high water on Tanner Williams Road Monday regretted it.
Philip Sanborn said a "buddy of mine, his wife got stuck this morning and I came out here to help him out."
Another motorist, Shannon Lindsey of Agricola, Mississippi said he had "been having to detour for about three days now."
Even when the water stops flowing across Tanner Williams, it may be a temporary break.
Chief Holloway said, "With all the rain that we've got projected to come in, we don't know, it (the water) may be back over it again by tomorrow night."
