COFFEEVILLE, Alabama - The heavy rain to the North of us is causing problems for some neighbors in our area. The Tombigbee River is overflowing its banks in Clarke County. Now, some families have voluntarily evacuated their homes due to road flooding. Larry Jones lives in the West Bend community. He says he doesn't expect water to get into his house, but it could be 2 weeks before he can go back home. That's because the only way to get in and out of his property is by boat. All anyone can do now is hope for one thing, "that the sun comes out and we don't get any more rain for a few weeks and this thing falls right back out," said Jones.
The Clarke County Emergency Management Agency says only three families have been affected by the Tombigbee River flooding in the West Bend and Coffeeville area.
