SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - A noted hurricane researcher is
forecasting a "well above average" Atlantic storm season this
year.
The report by William Gray's team at Colorado State University
predicts eight hurricanes, four of them major.
Today's report updates a December forecast that called for seven
hurricanes with three major storms.
An average of 5.9 hurricanes form in the Atlantic each year.
Gray made the announcement at a weather conference in the
Bahamas.

The storms that did form last year seemed to do so much further south and closer to the equator.  Some islands that never see hurricanes were brushed by a couple of the storms as they continued a westward trek toward the Yucatan peninsula.  What created that situation and is it present again this year?

They have predicted well above average hurricane seasons for the last two years and had below average seasons. This year they are predicting less than last year and calling it an above average prediction, so how does THAT math work?

Let me guess, they go to the Bahamas to take reading’s of the water temp and guesstimate on how many hurricane’s will enter the Atlantic this season.  After how many pina colada’s and margaritas do they make these statements?

They seem to have as much luck picking the number of storms as I have trying to pick the winning lottery numbers

Ok pick a number any number

These people have not done all that well with their predictions over the past couple of years.  Let’s hope that run of luck continues!
