Days of heavy rain and flooding have possibly contributed to a sinkhole that has opened in the parking lot of the Mobile County License Commission office. The parking lot is near Lott Road and Highway 45. News 5 Chief Photographer Gary Arnold says the hole is about 30 feet long. It has been blocked off with orange traffic cones and yellow tape. Workers tell Gary they have been putting concrete and dirt into the hole to try and fill it up. More on News 5 at Noon.

I guess here’s proof that geological movements move at a quicker pace than traffic in the tag office. LOL

Here is a true case of NOT Asking and making sure the truth is being told. It’s not a sink hole, the hole was dug out to repair a 36” main drain drain line. the line was patched concrete poured to cover repair and strenghten traffic area. Red clay will be put in and then capped with asphalt.
No Wonder wkrg is Questionable in their reporting

I hate that WKRG is having such a hard time during this recession.  Soon it will be one person with a handicam trying to report news, weather and sports with one hand and hold the camera with the other.

Well, actually they are related since Ch5 is “sinking” in the ratings.

uugggghhh what exactly does the sinkhole have to do with layoffs at Channel 5???  Did I miss something here or is someone just talking off subject so they can be heard????

No and the layoffs were actually monday.

disgruntled ex-employee I assume?

We need to see something on this website about the 11 more people that lost their jobs yesterday at Ch.5. At least the paper has the balls to mention it. What Media General has done to decimate and ruin a once great station is appaling. There’s hardly anybody left in that building. People who have devoted 20-30 plus years of their lives have been put out like the trash. The viewers need to know it’s not local management, but the incompetent morons in Richmond, Va- Marshal Morton, Jim Zimmerman, Ardel Hill, Dan Bradley, Mr.Conshafter,
and others. With such fewer staff, your on air look has suffered and will continue to suffer.
WKRG just needs to go off the air, let another company get the license and maybe return to it’s
once great self.

Finally the public gets to see one of the “sinkholes” all our tax money has been lost in.
