MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A mass transit system may be needed during
construction of the ThyssenKrupp AG steel plant north of Mobile.
Daily traffic on U.S. 43 could more than double if all the
workers drive their own cars.
Mobile County Commissioner Merceria Ludgood, who represents the
U.S. 43 corridor, thinks some kind of transit system is going to
have to be in place soon. At the peak of construction, ThyssenKrupp
spokesman Scott Posey said up to 7,000 workers are expected at the
site each day.
Posey said the company expect to meet the majority of parking
needs on site, but contractors will have to develop their own
transportation systems.
ThyssenKrupp already has about 700 construction workers on site
now. The $3.7 billion plant is expected to begin operations late
next year.

Thank heavens! All that harping I did about the need for a mass transit system and I thought I was spitting into the wind. I had better wait though, it hasn’t happened yet!

Thats a wonderful idea.  Knock two birds out with one stone and use an employee working there to drive a school bus from a meeting place to the job site! All it takes is a Class B CDL someone must have that operating all of the machinery!
