On February 17th of 2009, television will change forever. Are you ready for Digital TV? If you're not sure, at 5:25PM on Wednesday, December 17th, all television stations in Alabama will begin testing the DTV transition. WKRG Operations Manager Dave Mooney says you turn on any televisions you have in your home. If a message appears at 5:25PM indicating your TV is not ready for DTV, you should take action. Dave says, "It will have a phone number on their for you and a website for you to go to and if you see that, you must take action."
If you use rabbit ears or a roof top antenna on your television, you will need a converter box. You can receive a discount coupon for the converter box by calling 1-888-DTV-2009 or go online at www.dtvanswers.com.
If at 5:25PM, nothing happens on your TV, Mooney says, If nothing happens, different to your screen at 5:25, or if you get a message that says you are ready for DTV, then you're in the clear.
