WASHINGTON (AP) - Predictions about cell phone domination are
apparently coming true.
According to federal figures out today, the reliance on cells is
growing. Nearly three in ten households get all or most of their
calls on cell phones. Some don't even have hard-wired phones.
The trends are important to pollsters, which rely chiefly on
calls to random landline phone numbers, because federal law forbids
unsolicited calls to cell phones made by computerized dialing
systems.
Other survey highlights: Low-income people are more likely to
have only cell phones; about a third of those under age 30 have
cell phones exclusively; and, households with both types of service
who rarely or never get calls on hard-wired phones tend to be
better educated with higher incomes.

Let me tell you something “Coondock”, I am smart, smart enough to realize that landlines are for idiots and ancient people like yourself! Go wireless off cable and you don’t need DSL or a phone line for a TIVO or your pc’s.
I have been getting along just fine without a landline phone for over 5 years. Who needs it??!! Apparently, uneducated people like you Boony!
How smart are you to pay for 2 different phone services! Dork!
I’d rather have the money for something else than a Boondock landline!

Let me tell you something fartman. I know some engineers and they couldn’t find there way around a parking lot. Just like working4u said, landlines are used for other things besides talking. You said you have an engineering degree and make good money but nothing about being smart. Your the one who sounds stupid. You should know landlines are used for many other things besides talking and people with money can enjoy the pleasure of both.

I have to have a land line. My cell phone doesn’t get good reception at my house. I have to go outside. I like the DSL service also.

All funning aside.

I must have a hard wire to have a monitored home alarm system. My satelite TV company require a hard line to recieve pay perview or rent movies. Also, my home computers run better and are more reliable using a phone line vs. cable or satelite. I never use my hard wire for phone service. That is what cell phones are for. Heck, I could not even tell you what my home phone number is.
Other than that you would have to be plain old stupid to pay for a hard line in your house if you have a cell phone and never use the hard line for anything.

What a crock of s*@#!! Give me a break! I have an engineering degree, make good money, and I don’t have a land line phone. Why have it?? Everybody know’s how to get in touch with me. Why pay for some useless ancient technology and get raped when that useless thing gets billed?

If they are so “higher educated”, then they are pretty stupid to be paying for two types of phone bills!
