I think there is a law that if you work more than 8 hours in a day then it goes into overtime pay which is usually time and one half and if that is the case then it will cost the city(taxpayers) more money for the same 40 hours. I worked a 12hour 4 day shift for quite a while and liked it. 3 days off every week and better pay.

You could work 4 10 hour shifts. Is this just for government/city employees, or across the board for all businesses? I am very fortunate that I make my own schedule, and believe me, I am not working any more than I have to. I am a home health nurse, and whereas, I used to go out to an area to see 1 or 2 people, I will schedule those visits, when it is more economical for me to go. I also will do my errands, while I am already out.

depends on if they do it by shifts or not. If they did it by shifts then they would have coverage 24/7. If they just worked 8 hours a day, the workers would lose money. If they worked 4 days at 12 hours then the cities would lose money unless the workers agreed to fore go any overtime over 8 hours a day and I don’t know if they can do that and keep the feds happy.

Depends on which jobs will switch to a 4 day work week.  Anyone know?
