Dr. Lee: "Time to Move On"

Dr. Lee: "Time to Move On"

Posted: Updated:

Dr. Alan Lee took to the podium today for a press conference to address his sudden and mysterious resignation from his position as the Superintendent of the Baldwin County Public School System.

Upon leaving the podium, he left us with more questions than answers.

Dr. Lee did not specify exactly why he was leaving the job when "Baldwin County schools are better than they're ever been," he said.

However, he did drop some hints.

"I have nothing going with any other company or any other school district. I'm not leaving to get away from something. I'm leaving because it's in the best interest of our board, and therefore the best interest for our children," said Dr. Lee at the press conference.

"It's difficult when things are status quo to get a [Board of Education] to think in-depth about what they want to do and what's important," added Dr. Lee.

The Baldwin County Board of Education recently underwent some turnover with new board members being elected.

"I wanted to give this board the opportunity that every board should have and that is the opportunity to define themselves and to invite someone to lead with whatever that vision is."

"I spent a lot of time on a tractor over the weekend, mowing pasture and didn't have anybody to talk to and so it came from the inside of me and that is my decision."
