Two people called 911 Monday telling dispatchers they heard gunshots near the intersection of Gary and Mozelle streets.
That intersection sit in the middle of the Scattered Sites community designed for seniors and run by by the Durham Housing Authority.
“They shouldn’t be shooting anywhere, but certainly with people that have made an investment in their community and now in retirement,” said Rev. Melvin Whitely, a community activist.
Whitely is organizing a neighborhood meeting to come up with solutions. He said he would like more license checks in the area.
Police said no gunshot victims were found in the area.
