PENSACOLA, Florida -

As soon as it was posted online, video of a violent attack and robbery in Pensacola went viral.

A man walked into the Boost Mobile Store on Bayou Boulevard and punched the clerk in the face before taking cash from the register.

Now the victim, Jessica Smith, is talking about her ordeal.

“I have never understood fear like that,” said Smith. “I came to and I saw this guy standing above me and he is kind of bowed up and i am on the ground. In my mind I thought he was going to kill me. That was it he was going to finish me off and I just could not let that happen. Like that was not the way I was going to go out or my baby.”

Less than 24 hours after the attack Pensacola Police arrested a suspect, 41-year-old Vincent Lavon Johnson.

Smith says even now it is tough to watch the video, but isn’t interested in being a considered a victim.

“It’s not a lot of anger. Not a lot of anger. I feel really sad for him that maybe he didn’t have such a good life. I think he had a hard life and I was just on his path. It wasn’t anything against me or anything about me,” said Smith.

Since the crime Smith and her fiancé have been flooded with support including a gift drive for their new baby. News 5 is partnering with TK101 to help collect gifts.
