Caleb Communicating From Hospital Bed

MOBILE, Alabama -
13 year old Caleb Thomas is out of his coma, two days after being admitted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola after being shot with a BB gun at his home in Foley.

"I couldn't be more happier. All I see is my son coming back more and more. I can't ask for anything better," says his mom, Keisha Weeks.

Keisha says she woke up Friday morning to something she wasn't expecting.

"I was awakened by him pulling the tube's out of his mouth. The first word he said was "mom" and I about fainted when he said that," she says.

She says her son had no clue where he was, or how he got to the hospital.
"He thought he was in trouble and being punished," she explains.

He woke up thinking he was involved in a car crash. His dad, Blake, rushed to the hospital ready to see his son awake for the first time.
"I was just in shock with joy that he has recovered this fast," he says.

Doctors originally told his parents they may not know anything until late this weekend on how he's doing, but tonight they know it's nothing short of a miracle.
