Gulf Shores Siblings Launch Beach Safety Initiative

Posted: Updated:
GULF SHORES, Alabama -
Joseph and Coral Ronan are using social media to spread the word about a beach safety initiative the siblings are sponsoring.

The Gulf Shores natives have launched "No Beach Left Unguarded." The Ronan's hope to find funding and sponsors to hire lifeguards and have at least one lifeguard stationed every mile along Alabama's coast.

The Ronan's father, Joe, drowned six years ago in a fishing accident at Little Lagoon Pass on West Beach. Ronan, who was once the aquatics director for the city of Gulf Shores, was caught in a rip current and swept out into the Gulf.

At the time of the drowning, lifeguards were not stationed in the area.
