Republicans Fill Baldwin County Ballots

ORANGE BEACH, Alabama -
Political signs blanket Baldwin County. They all have different candidate names on them, but they each have something in common.

"There's not much balance in politics in South Alabama and in Baldwin County," says Helen Clark.

Clark is a democrat living in Orange Beach and is part of the local democratic committee in Baldwin County. Locally, there aren't any democrats this time on the ballot.
"If there's a democrat out there who wants to run for office we do have structure here and we are ready to support democratic candidates. If there's an independent who wants to run, and I understand we have a couple of independents who will be on the ballot in the fall, if we feel like they can represent us we will help them," she says.

Even though Tuesday there are only republicans on the local ballot, Clark says she still plans to vote.
"We want to have a say in who supports us locally, so a lot of us here in south Baldwin County plan on voting in the primary. It's an open primary state so we can vote the republican ballot, so that we have a choice in who is going to represent us in some of these local offices," says Clark.
