Maddie's Pet Adoption Days This Weekend

Maddie's Pet Adoption Days This Weekend

Posted: Updated:
MOBILE, Ala. - Several local shelters and animal rescue groups are joining forces for a huge free adoption event, Maddie's Pet Adoption Days. Maddie was a Schnauzer who inspired her owners to start a nationwide effort to get more pets placed in loving homes.  The event is tomorrow and Sunday and all fees are waived for approved adopters.

The Mobile SPCA is one of the organizations participating in the big adoption event. Executive Director Janine Woods say this free event is a way to save more animal lives.

"Their goal is to empty the shelter and get all of these animals out into good homes. So they will waive the adoption fees and Maddie's fund gives us an adoption subsidy for every animal we place. Then we take that money and take care of the next group of animals that will surely be coming in Tuesday morning. We have so much breeding and so many animals going to the shelter that we have got to get these animals and we have got to start truly getting back into spaying and neutering," said Woods.

The Maddie's Pet Adoption Days event is tomorrow and Sunday at the old Blockbuster's location in the Pinebrook Shopping Center.   The event is from 10-3 each day, or until they run out of pets.
