Dist. 2 Candidates Want Baldwin Vote

So many names, so many races. Who's who for county commission? For district two, Bob James is the incumbent.

"I really enjoyed my first term. It was a lot of fun."

Challengers Chris Elliott, "looking forward to June 3rd. Of course, it's been a long campaign so far," and Cody Phillips, "I felt the calling to do this. To serve the people a little bit further," hope they are the next commissioner.

James says he has made a difference in the last four years. "Overall the feedback I get from the citizens they are very happy with the way things are going."

His challengers believe they can do a better job. "We need somebody that can work with our mayors, work with our councils, work with our other elected officials and find a way to get to 'yes' instead of folding our arms and saying 'no'," says Elliott.

"I am big on economic development," says Phillips, "where it benefits the public and I'm also big in small business support."

The county's growth and infrastructure will all be challenges over the next four years. Voters will decide who is best qualified to meet those challenges.

"If they are happy with the way the county is being run today, I think they need to keep me there," says James. "If they want to revert back to the way it was, where information was hard to come by and it wasn't managed as well they can look at one of my opponents."

"I'm the guy that will build consensus and move this county forward," says Elliott.

"I love the people here," says Phillips. "I want to serve them and do the best I can for them."

Commissioner Frank Burt is the only commissioner unopposed in the upcoming election.
