A couple driving to Mobile for their wedding this Saturday didn't reach their destination.

John Redman, an assistant basketball coach at Dalton State College, was injured and his fiance Brittany Huber was killed in a car crash in the Atlanta area Monday night, the college has confirmed in a statement.

Redman was unconscious when he arrived at the hospital with head injuries, broken ribs, and multiple fractures. According to Dalton State, Redman was moving his extremities at the hospital.

Redman, a Spanish Fort native and Huber, a Mobile native, were both Gulf Coast-bound and excited for their wedding this weekend.

"Mob town bound! It is finally wedding week!," Huber last tweeted on Monday afternoon.

In Dalton, Georgia, leaders at Dalton State are asking people to pray for Redman and both families.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this impossibly hard time," Dalton State athletic director Derek Waugh said in a release from the school. "She was an amazing person who was loved by all who met and knew her."

Redman graduated from Spanish Fort High School in 2009. Huber graduated from St. Paul's in Mobile.
