Mobile Among States Least Business Friendly

Mobile Among States Least Business Friendly

Posted: Updated:
MOBILE, Alabama - Mobile has landed on another list that doesn't bode well for the city. It’s been named one of the least business friendly cities in Alabama.

Mobile came in at 46 out of 50 metro areas, only  beating out cities like Selma and Prichard.

The study by the Alabama Policy Institute measured metro areas by four categories: economic vitality, business tax burden, community allure and transportation infrastructure.

Mobile did particularly bad when it came to the tax burden on business owners. Mayor Sandy Stimpson said he was disappointed but not surprised by the ranking.

“I do know that our business tax structure is very complicated and it’s also a lot less money in other cities,” said Stimpson.

The full list has not yet been released, however Fairhope was named the most busieness friendly city in the state on last year’s list.
