Former High School Football Star Arrested

Posted: Updated:
Former News 5 Player of the Year and McGill-Toolen standout Jason Smith was arrested this (Sunday) morning and charged with possession of marijuana and two counts of attempting to elude police.

Smith was booked into Mobile Metro Jail just before 3:00am. He has since bonded out.

After graduating from high school and committing to Auburn University, Smith failed to qualify academically.

He chose to attend Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, work on his grades, play football this fall, and transfer to Auburn for the 2015 season.

Smith was named news 5 Player of the Year after leading McGill-Toolen to a perfect record his senior season.
