MORRISVILLE, N.C. -

A 26-year-old man died after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree on Interstate 540 in Morrisville early Saturday morning.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Addison James Kaylid was traveling eastbound at an estimated speed of 90 miles per hour when he attempted to take the Aviation Parkway exit around 4:30 a.m.

Kaylid lost control of his 2011 Ford SUV, ran into the median and struck a tree, the Highway Patrol said. The SUV caught fire following the collision, according to authorities.

Kaylid was the only occupant of the vehicle, the Highway Patrol said. Speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, authorities said.
